It's a whole different world to work in! I doubt I'll ever get proficient in using it, but I have to have it for the stuff I do for that particular customer.

Been using Drafts sight for nearly 10 years now. Draftsight is a little different from Autocad that I used to use. This is stuff I don't use and never have learned over the years. now try it and see if that's works for you. When you click on "polar" at the bottom of the screen, it automatically takes you from "ortho" to "polar". last, click on ok at the bottom of the menu and you are ready to use polar coordinates. If your interested in the nuts and bolts of the page lay-out scheme, let me know and I'll post it here when I get to that point.First thing you have to do is go under the "tools" drop down and go down to "options" click on "user preferences" then click on "display", then click on "polar guides", and at the right of "incremental angles-" set to 15 degrees or whatever angle you want in there. I'm going to be trying Draftsight for some 2D work. For printing material booksize, I could see having to manipulate line widths and font size (wider and larger) to keep information viewable.

'The eDrawings command starts the eDrawings application which gives you the power to create, view, and share 3D models and 2D drawings.' the 'share' part might be useful. You can look up eDrawings in the help files and there is an explanation there. If you are going to scale your output, scale it to fit the desired final print size and all of your print details will be preserved in legible format. You may be refering to the edrawings command or File>Publish eDrawings.

A standard page size will work fine too if it fits your work. DraftSight In addition to the built in Help Files available for DraftSight within the software under the 'Help' pull down menu, other resources available to help you resolve your DraftSight issues are as follows: Swym DraftSight Community Forum The Swym Community. Based on an advanced architecture, DraftSight generally takes a few minutes to download and runs on multiple operating systems, including Microsoft® Windows XP®, Windows Vista® and Windows® 7 (Mac OS and Linux support will be available later. I will typically go in and define a custom page size to fit my work or desired output. Currently in public beta and available for download at, DraftSight provides users with a better way to read, write and share DWG files. Perhap, this is what DC is refering to as a very thin line is going to be "very thin", but also still very legible. With the method I'm promoting, the drawing output is exactly as defined by your drawing parameters. It sounds like many people are trying to blow up an 8 1/2" x 11" page into something larger, but that scales the line widths up also to a less than satifactory or usable width. If it were I would just build the source and run it like I did with Blender 2.5 Beta. I don't think the soruce code is available.

The key to good output, at least with the PDF option, is in the page setting and page lay-out parameters setup in the print dialog. I've just started using DraftSight on windows.
